When in doubt, Ask The Blog Guy...

Q :( This is a two part question. I've been think about downloading an interactive chat program, any suggestions? Would you add this to your Blog?

A ): For the most reliable interactive chat program I would suggest trying Skype.
www.skype.com
Choose either the windows or mac version that you need.
I would stay away from Yahoo and AOL Aim. iMAC comes with i-Chat which is a bastardize version of AOL Aim but don't use it.
As for the second part of your question, I would not add any type of chat program to your Blog, Social Network, Website, or Forum.

Note for Readers: An interactive chat program means it has multiple features such as-
1) It has voice. Good for older computers that have a microphone but not video.
2) It has voice and video.
3) It has interactive text or chat by typing.
4) It has limited conference calling.
5) It has Voice Dialing which allows it to be used as a telephone.

Ask The Blog Guy A Question

Q :( What exactly is a 3G Network and what's the difference between 3G and 4G?

A :)
A 3G Network is an acronym for International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000), better known as 3G or 3rd Generation.
Services include wide-area wireless voice telephone, video calls, and wireless data, all in a mobile environment. Compared to 2G and 2.5G services, 3G allows simultaneous use of speech and data services and higher data rates up to 14.0 Mbit per second on the down link and 5.8 Mbit per second on the up link. Thus, 3G networks enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved efficiency.
4G essentially the same thing as the term Beyond 3G.
A 4G cellular system must have target peak data rates of up to approximately 100 Mbit per second for high mobility such as mobile access and up to approximately 1 Gbit per second for low mobility such as local wireless access.

Just Ask The Blog Guy

Q :( Please explain bandwith and why it's important?

A ): Bandwith sometimes called digital bandwith or network bandwith is a measure of available consumed data expressed in 'bits.'
Bandwith usually refers to capacity used or available capacity.
In website hosting, the term "bandwidth" is often incorrectly used to describe the amount of data transferred to or from the website or server within a prescribed period of time, for example bandwidth consumption accumulated over a month measured in Gigabyte per month. The more accurate phrase used for this meaning of a maximum amount of data transfer each month or given period is monthly data transfer.
Internet Connection Bandwidths vary....
Some examples are:
56 kbits Modem / Dial-up Speed
+/- 1.5 Mbits ADSL and T1 Connection Speed
+/- 3.5 Mbits Cable Modem Connection Speed (most common used in USA)
45 Mbits T3 Connection Speed

The reason this becomes important is that if too many people are using high speed bandwith it clutters up the networks and slows everything down for others to use. Movies and videos along with some types of music are the primary culprits of bandwith problems known as 'hogs.'
This doesn't just effect computers and the Internet it also effects things like cellphones, and other electronic devices used in communication.
Bandwith metric decimal units, where:
1 byte = 8 bits
1 kbit = 1,000 bits
1 Mbit = 1,000,000 bits
1 Gbit = 1,000,000,000 bits
1 kB = 1,000 bytes
1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes
1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes
1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes

Asking The Blog Guy ?

Q :( I noticed on http://blogsfollowme.blogspot.com Tip # 92 and #93 there are two gadgets I would like to place on my website, can you give me an example of how and where to place them?

A ): Everyone designs their website differently, but to install these on a website or web page, you copy and paste the code between BODY and /BODY. Place the code where you want the gadgets to appear.
On my website, Blogs Follow Me, I placed the Rating Gadget Box (Blogorator) near the top of the Blog but enlarged the box size.
For TheBlogFrog Social Network Community, I placed it near the bottom of the page.
Here is the LINK to My Website:
